The origin of the company

Timo Kallio started business operations even before FinnKane Oy under a sole proprietorship. Under the sole proprietorship, he washed passenger cars and vans both inside and out, first in the evenings and on weekends, and eventually the workload became so heavy that Timo took unpaid leave from his permanent job.

Later, there was demand for heavy vehicle washing as well as washing of tanker truck tanks and tank containers. At that point, Timo decided to establish FinnKane Oy together with his wife Merja, in the autumn of 2010.

Shortly after the company was founded, operations moved from near the city center to the Koillisväylä industrial area on Vänkäritie, where the company still operates today.

The company's first truck

Tank container companies began asking whether FinnKane could pick up tank containers from the port for cleaning and then return them clean back to the port. After considering the matter, Timo and Merja decided to purchase FinnKane's first own tractor unit: a 380-horsepower, three-axle Volvo from 1998, the now legendary "square headlight" Volvo. Behind it, they added a Närko container semi-trailer.

Company growth  

When tank container companies learned that Timo had solid experience with tanker trucks, they first asked whether it would be possible for FinnKane to unload a container in the local area and then bring it for washing. After this, the amount of transport work began to increase so much that Timo had time only to drive, while Merja handled the washing alone at the facility. As a result, the company hired its first employee to take care of the driving operations.

Demand continued to grow gradually, and in 2013 a second vehicle was purchased along with a driver. FinnKane also acquired a container handler so that tank containers could be brought directly for washing and temporarily stored clean in the yard. Later, the container handler was sold and replaced with a reach stacker, which made it possible to handle also loaded tank containers.

Over the years, FinnKane Oy has expanded from washing tanker trucks and tank containers into a full-fledged transport company. Today, the company operates 16 trucks and over 45 trailers.

Company today

Timo and Merja built long and distinguished careers as entrepreneurs, and because of this FinnKane Oy is known as a reliable company. In 2026, their son Kim and his friend Miska purchased the entire share capital of the company from Timo and Merja.

Kim continues as transport planner and serves as the company's CEO, while Miska started working at the company and is responsible for field operations.
